This Privacy Policy explains how RideGuard ("we", "our", or "the app"), package com.rideguard.app, collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our mobile application. RideGuard is committed to protecting your privacy and providing transparent, secure mobile safety and dash cam services.

1. Overview of Data Processing

RideGuard is designed as an on-device utility. Your video recordings, audio feeds, and real-time GPS coordinates are processed and stored locally on your device storage. We do not transmit, sell, or commercialize your recorded media to any external servers.

2. Permissions and Data We Access

📷 Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)
Used exclusively to capture video feeds from your road-facing and cabin-facing cameras for dash cam recording and live viewfinder previews. Recorded video files are saved locally on your device.

🎤 Audio & Microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO)
Used to optionally record cabin audio alongside video recordings and to process voice recognition commands (e.g. "start recording", "lock", "emergency"). Voice processing is executed on-device.

📍 Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
Used during active recording sessions to timestamp real-time GPS coordinates onto your video clip metadata and to generate live location map links during Emergency SOS events.

💬 SMS / Messaging (android.permission.SEND_SMS)
Used exclusively when you activate the Dual-Path Emergency SOS trigger. When activated, an emergency SMS message containing your timestamp and live Google Maps location coordinates is sent directly through your cellular provider to your configured personal emergency contact.

🔔 Foreground Service & Notifications (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION & POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
Used to ensure continuous, reliable location tracking and dash cam recording while the app runs in the background or during phone calls, accompanied by an ongoing status bar notification.

3. Local Storage and Data Management

All recorded video files (MP4) are stored in your device's external application media directory. RideGuard includes an automated Storage Loop Manager that monitors available disk space and automatically recycles older unlocked recordings when the 2GB threshold is reached. Locked recordings and geotagged incident clips are permanently preserved from deletion until manually removed by you.

4. Exporting and Sharing Clips

You maintain 100% ownership and control of your recorded footage. The app provides built-in tools to:

Export / Download: Save clips directly to your device's public Downloads/RideGuard directory for viewing in your phone's native Gallery.
Share: Share specific video clips via Email, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Drive, or any communication application of your choice using standard Android secure content URIs.
Delete: Permanently delete any recording from your device storage and database at any time.

5. Third-Party Services and Diagnostics

RideGuard utilizes select industry-standard developer libraries:

Google Play Services: Used strictly for high-accuracy GPS location retrieval (Fused Location Provider).
Firebase Crashlytics: Collects non-identifiable, anonymized crash reports and performance telemetry to help diagnose application crashes and improve system stability.

6. Children's Privacy

RideGuard does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The application is intended for general audience drivers and rideshare operators.

7. Security

Your data remains on your physical device. We recommend using device-level security measures (such as screen lock, biometric authentication, and disk encryption) to safeguard your recorded media.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates and legal compliance. Any changes will be posted to this page with an updated revision date.
